Movie Review: Annabelle!

 Release Date: October 3, 2014
 Genre: Horror
 Movie Rating: R
My Rating: 5/10 stars

My first post on this blog is going to be focusing on my most recently viewed horror movie which was, Annabelle. This is a prequel to the movie, The Conjuring. This movie focuses on the possessed doll, and her story.

Plot:
John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia - a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia's delight with Annabelle doesn't last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now... Annabelle.

First off, I didn't like this movie as much as I thought I would. This move, I felt was kind of a joke. I jumped, maybe a total of two times during this movie. Some parts were scary, others I felt were lacking. The fact that this movie is based off of true events was kind of hard to believe while watching because some parts in this movie made me go. "yeah right, like a doll could do that." I felt like this movie was trying too hard to be scary, but it just turned into another "Child's Play" Chucky movie.
If you don't know, there are people that say that there really was an Annabelle. She just didn't look anything like this doll. The doll in this movie was made to look creepy, and terrifying, but the "actual" Annabelle is a Raggedy Ann doll. The owners, Ed and Lorraine Warren, have her locked in a case in a museum and there is a sign on the front of the case saying, "Do not open". I'm guessing that maybe some events in this movie were based on reality, there are some parts though that I know were made specifically for Hollywood.
During this movie you also find out that the spirit inside of the doll is trying so hard to find the spirit of a living human. Very similar to Charles Lee Ray in "Child's Play". The only way she can take over someone's soul is if that person gives up themself to her. There is a character that I felt was put into the story for one reason only, to prove that the couple that owns Annabelle are not alone. The woman that Mia talks to had this happen to her daughter and herself. I just feel like her character was of no relevance in the movie until the ending.

Anyways, sorry if this review was all over the place, I'm not used to posting about movies. But I actually love it. Let me know what your thoughts were on this movie.
